To a stranger

In this poem "To a Stranger" by Walter Whitman I think it is about who he loves. It said on the internet that he was bisexual so it could be about a boy or girl. I personally think this poem is about a guy he loves because of the line "I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or wake at night alone". When Walter lived people didn't like homosexuals so he couldn't express his feelings about a guy and if he did people would call him certain words. There are a lot of different people this could be about but I think it's about a man he loves but can't be around because other people would make fun of him.

Opinion on being content

My opinion is that the author should be content. His life as a child was horrible his dad abused him and his mom never stood up for him. I think that if he wasn't happy with his life he wouldn't be smiling about waking up in bad places and sleeping with prostitutes. He had probably never had a good relationship in his lifetime. He was probably really happy with his life if he didn't want to change anything. He seems to be able to get through tough times no matter how bad it is so I think it is okay to be content. If we could ask him today I think he would say he had a good life and he wouldn't change it.

My tattoos

I drew two tattoo's one is two goalie helmets and the other is my family coat of arms.

My first tattoo would be two goalie helmets facing each other and they would have the Detroit Red Wings logo on them. I would get this tattoo because I am a goalie in ice and ball hockey. I would get this tattoo across my chest. I think it would look cool there and thats why I whould get it there. It would be a medium sized tattoo, I wouldn't want it to be to big or to small. I would hope when people saw it they would know that I am a goalie and my favorite team is Detroit Red Wings. This tattoo doesn't need any words to show what it means.

My second tattoo would be my family coat of arms. I would get this tattoo because it represents my family (The Austin's). I would get this tattoo on my back because my family always has my back. It would be a big tattoo it wouldn't cover my whole back but it would cover about half of it. I would hope people would see this tattoo and think it looked cool but I wouldn't care if they didn't because it is my family's coat of arms. The only word that would be on this tattoo would be my family name Austin.

Interim #1

When my parents ask me how are you doing in English? I will say "I will show you". http://ryanaustin20.blogspot.ca
In class we use Blogger to do our assignments. To turn in our assignments we turn them in on Edmodo. It is kind of like a class website. Here you can see all the assignments and see the ones I have done and the ones i haven't done. You can also compare what i have done to what other people have done. We are not getting a letter grade yet but I can show you what i have done so far. So far I think I am doing good, I have kept up with the assignments given and compared to some others I think I have done the assignments right.

Extended Metaphor

An extended metaphor refers to a comparison between two unlike things that continues throughout a series of sentences in a paragraph or lines in a poem. It is often comprised of more than one sentence and sometimes consists of a full paragraph.

Example: In Shakespeares Romeo and Julliet, Romeo compares Julliet to the sun.

“But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief.”

There is also symbolism which is the sun and the moon

Shakespeare has a lot of literature that has extended metaphors in them.

Dynamic character

A Dynamic Character is a literary or dramatic character who undergoes an important inner change, a change in personality or attitude.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a Dynamic Character

A miserable, bitter old man by the name of scrooge hates things like happiness, generosity and especially Christmas, until the three ghosts of past, present, and future come to visit him. When they come they show him his past, present and future and then the next day he isnt so miserable and he's really happy. He now helps people and is all cheerfull.

Ebenezer undergoes an important inner change. His attitude towards things are much more positive then before.

Myers-Briggs personality test

So i took the Myers-Briggs personality test and found out that I am an ENFP (Extraverted iNtuition Feeling Percieving) (The Advocate) Friends are what life is about to ENFPs,They hold up their end of the relationship, sometimes being victimized by less caring individuals. ENFPs are energized by being around their friends. Some really hate being alone, especially on a regular basis. ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, they are very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and get very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm inspires and motivates other people. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it. ENPFs are people who take charge when they need to, they are leaders ready to lead at any givin time.

There are some really cool people in this world who are also ENFPs. Like Bill Cosby, Dr. Seuss, Robin Williams, and Sandra Bullock. There are also fictional caracters that are ENFPs like Ariel from Little Mermaid and Will from Fresh Prince of Bel-air. There are many more but these are the names that I recognize. I found this really interesting that I have the same personality to some of the coolest people ever.

ENFPs tend to get some cool jobs as well, like actor, designer, laywer, banker and my favourite because its what i want to be which is an Engineer.
