Final Post

Self Regulation - I think my effort in this class in really good. My class attendance is also really good I have only missed a couple of days and I always arrive on time except on flex days because I always forget class starts early so I am late. I don't always use my device effectively but I do most of the time. It is mostly because I went from using a laptop to using an iPhone. I think I chose a good seating location, I get most of my work done in class and I hand most of them in on time. I sometimes get off task in class because I start talking about what happened in the sports world. I always get my work handed in though, I have no missing assignments. I would also say I work good and choose my work partners wisely. Arman and I worked good together on the Benvolio Twitter and other post on Benvolio. During the year there were assignments that I worked hard on and there were assignments that I didn't work hard on. It depended on what the assignment was. For example I worked really hard on my tattoo assignment drawing the tattoos. but I didn't work really hard on my "Who killed Wellington" essay. With my essay I repeated most of my ideas throughout it and had no quotes but with my tattoo assignment I worked hard on the drawing and talking about the drawing and describing what they meant to me. In this category I think I deserve 29%

Quality of Communication Skills-

  1. speak and listen to make personal responses to texts, by
    – making connections with prior knowledge and experiences – relating reactions and emotions to understanding of the text – generating thoughtful questions
    – making inferences
    – explaining opinions using reasons and evidence
I make a lot of connections when I write an assignment. Like my tattoo assignment where I conected with my family and what I like.

A4  select, adapt, and apply a range of strategies to interact and collaborate with others in pairs and groups, including
  1. – initiating and sharing responsibilities
    – listening actively
    – contributing ideas and supporting the ideas of others – acknowledging and discussing diverse points of view – reaching consensus or agreeing to differ
I work with my group really well working with Arman and sharing ideas with him and my other group members.

  1. – making and supporting reasoned judgments
    – examining and comparing ideas and elements among texts
    – describing and comparing perspectives
    – describing bias, contradictions, and non-represented perspectives
    – identifying the importance and impact of historical and cultural context
I think I am good with going through my work and other people's work and comparing then and using techniques to improve my work. I also think I need to work on my technique in writing. I am not the best formal writer as you can tell by my essay writing and it is definitely something I need to work on.

I think I deserve a 22% in this category.

Contribution to the Learning Environment- I sometimes go back and edit my work after a classmate has commented on mine but sometimes I don't because I was just to lazy to edit it. I also provide useful comments but mostly I just say good job and the part that I liked the best. I think i'm really good with talking to my group with ideas and they are really good with giving out idea's too. I also think I am good with commenting interesting facts on research assignments on poem writers. I also help my group members with technology issues like for Jeremy, he needs someone to log into the laptops, so I log into my account for him. I am good with finishing my work on time so other people can read it and also think I bring a positive mindset and hard work to the class. I am really good at listening to my groups idea's and adding them to improve my work. I think I deserve a 29% in this category.

Uninvited guests

His heart was pounding. He was sure he saw the doorknob turn.
"Hide the the kids!" said father
Mother rushed me and my sister into a secret room behind our bedroom cabinet. She closed the cabinet doors and told us "be quite."
My sister and I heard the front door open and then my mother screaming. I heard a man yelling in German and my father yelling back. I didn't understand what they were arguing about. Then there were two really loud bangs!
My sister and I waited for probably about one hour before leaving the secret room.
We walked to where the front door was and my sister Asked "where is mother and father?"
I said "I didn't know"
I told my sister to wait here so I could go see if our neighbours were home and tell them about what happened but no one was home. I was really worried about what happened to my parents. I returned home to talk to my sister. I told her that the neighbours weren't home.
I said "we should stay at home for awhile
And wait for mother and father to return.
As my sister and I waited I was trying to think of where my parents would have gone. There was a war going on right now and I remembered our neighbour telling us about men coming to people houses and taking them places. I also remembered that he told us if this ever happens to us we should run and find an American base and they would help us.
I told my sister that we were going to wait a little longer and see if mother and father come home but if not, we are going to find an American base.
"Why?" She asked
I told her we had to because I think our parents had been taken and we need to find Americans because they will help
She said "how do you know they will help"
I said "our neighbour Jeff told me that if something like what happened today happens that we should find an American base and they will help us."
She said "okay."
We waited till the next morning when we heard more screaming but it was from across the road. I peeked out our window and saw soldiers taking a family of four to a truck. I looked behind me to tell my sister what was happening but she wasn't there. I looked back out the window and there was my sister running toward the soldiers and there truck. She threw something at them and one of the soldiers grabbed her and put her in the truck.
I ran outside but the truck started to leave I tried to chase the truck but I couldn't catch it. I fell to my knees and yelled "Nooo!"
I stayed there crying wondering where they were going. I got up and started walking in the direction of where the truck went.
I walked for a good distance but still nothing. In the distance I could see a smoke stack. I walked towards it till I hit the forest then I saw a group of 6 guys, they were soldiers but they were in different uniforms then the other soldiers.

I ran toward them and they turned around and pointed there guns. I stopped and they lowered there guns. They walked toward me and one of them asked me "what are you doing her?"
I said "my sister was taken, do you know where she is?"
He said back "I don't know for sure but I might have an idea."
I asked "can you help me find her?"
He asked for my name and my sisters name so I told him it was Henry and my sisters name was Tracey
He said "this is Lt.Jackson he is going to stay here with you and if I find your sister in where I think she is, I will come back with her, Ok?"
I agreed. The five soldiers left and the one named Lt.Jackson stayed with me.
We didn't say anything we just sat there.
He handed me some chocolate and then we heard loud noises in the distance. He stood up really fast but He sat back down right after.
We waited there for about an hour until I saw 4 of the 5 guys return but to their left was my sister and I ran towards her.

Essay #3

Walking in someone else's shoes can change how you feel about something or someone. You can find out what people are going through or something else that is new about them like their favourite sport which later might become your favourite sport. Walking a mile in someone shoes can change your whole perspective on something or someone.

In Romeo and Juliet the two families, the Capulet's and the Montagues hate each other but when Romeo and Juliet meet each other and fall in love. They find out that each other are really nice and sweet. This leads to Romeo not fighting Tybalt because he has married Juliet and he says he wont fight him. Romeo says "I do protest, I never injured thee,But love thee better than thou canst devise Till thou shalt know the true reason of my love; And so, good Capulet,-- which name I tender As dearly as mine own,-- be satisfied" (3.1.70-4). Romeo also changed when Tybalt had killed Mercutio, Romeo then turned into Tybalt because Tybalt was a violent person and Romeo was more of a passive person but he became like Tybalt because his best friend was killed.

In the novel "The curious incident with the dog in the night time" the two parents, Mother and Father step into each other shoes after Christopher goes to live with his mom because his dad had killed a dog and Christopher is scared that his dad might kill him. "Sometimes he tried to talk to me through the door, but I didn't answer him". Christopher is afraid to talk to his dad because he killed a dog and lied to him about his mothers death. The mom then finds out what life had been like for the dad because she had left Christopher alone with him.  The dad finds out how sad life is without Christopher. At the end Christopher finds out how tough life is taking care and putting up with him. Christopher also steps into the adult hood when he dicides to go find his mother by himself by taking the train system because of his dad killing a dog.

Personally I have changed a lot by stepping into other people's shoes. Sometimes literally stepping into other people's shoes. One of the first times I played basketball I was wearing flip flops and my friend let me borrow his basketball shoes so I didn't hurt myself running in flip flops and I really enjoyed playing it. It was a new sport for me I didn't really like it before because I thought it was boring and how hockey is way better then it (which it is) but I played it for a bit and it was really fun. It changed my whole perspective on the sport and today it is one of my favourite sports.

Stepping into someone else's shoes can be difficult because you are doing something different that you are not used to. If you walk a mile in someone else's shoes that is different because you are in there shoes for a longer period of time which can change your perspective on something you did not like before. Sometimes it won't change you at all, you might still dislike what ever someone else is doing.

Who killed Wellington

Christopher's father Mr. Boone killed the dog. He did it because he was mad at Mr.Shears for cheating with his wife so he took his anger out on Mrs.Shears dog. Mr.Boone seems to drink a lot with his friends so he may of been drunk or at one point in the book Christopher smelt a smell he never smelt before which may have been marijuana. He also has a bit of a temper so he might have been mad at the dog if it was barking a lot. Mrs.Shears and Mr.Boone may have got into a fight and they got really mad at each other so Mr.Boone killed the dog.

Evidence that shows that he killed Wellington is when Christopher saw Mrs.Shears and his dad hugging. That shows that they were close so Mr.Boone could go near the house which means he had access to the pitchfork in Mr.Shears garden. Also since they were close if they got into a fight that would give him motive to kill the dog. Mr.Boone is also a boiler repair man so that means that he was probably up in the middle of the night and could have been at the crime scene. Since Mr.Boone is also a drinker, he was probably drunk when he did it and especially after a late night shift of being a boiler repair man he probably had a few drinks.

Mr.Boone's wife and Mrs.Shears husband had an affair so Mr.Boone was really upset about that and then when Mrs.Shears and Mr.Boone had a fight it was the last straw. Mr.Boone was furious and sick of being treated badly by his friends and family so he killed Wellington. He also probably was drunk because he was trying to flush out his problems by drinking. Also he is always telling Christopher to stop doing detective work so this means that he killed Wellington and he knows Christopher will find out he killed Wellington because Christopher is really smart.

Mr.Boone is always drinking and always has late shifts because of his job. He also is the neighbor of Mrs.Shears and was always at her house because they were hooking up. Also he is always telling Christopher to stop doing detective work so this means that he could have killed Wellington and he knows Christopher will find out he killed Wellington because Christopher is really smart. Christopher doesn't listen though and keeps doing detective work and is always going outside to find people to ask about the murder. He then will ask Christopher where he was and then continues to drink with his friends.

Mr.Boone killed the dog because he was mad at the Shears family. This would have been preventable if Mrs.Boone didn't leave him for Mr.Shears. It also could have been preventable if him and Mrs.Shears didn't get together because then he would have never been mad at each other and Mr.Boone wouldn't have killed the dog.

SONG

For my song about stress I choose Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR5ApYxkU-U

Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! teachers! leave the kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! teacher! leave us kids alone!
All in all you're just a another brick in the wall
.
All in all you're just a another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, do it again!"
"Wrong, do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. how can you
Have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"you! yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

I don't need no arms around me
And I dont need no drugs to calm me.
I have seen the writing on the wall.
Don't think I need anything at all.
No! Don't think I'll need anything at all.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall.

For my song I chose "Another Brick In The Wall" by Pink Floyd. This song connects to me because its about school and the stress of school and trying to build a wall between school and yourself. It is about how school teaches you how to be more quiet then it teaches you other things. Each brick is an event at school that you don't like. Also how if you don't do something perfectly it is wrong.

Friendships are Important Now and Then

Friendships are very important in Romeo and Juliet and now because they keep people going and together. Romeo had a lot of friends like Balthazar, Benvolio, and Mercutio. Juliet also had a friendship which was with the Nurse of the Capulet's. The main friendship in this movie was between Romeo and his three best friends. Mercutio and Benvolio who always took care of Romeo no matter what and Balthazar looked up to Romeo like an older brother. This friendship caused a lot of death though, not just between the three of them but towards the Capulet's too. Friendships now are also very important because friends help each other get through tough times. Friendships now and friendships then are very similar.

Friendships back in the 16th Century were just as important as the friendships now. At the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo was with Benvolio and he was really sad because the girl he loved, Rosaline didn't love him back but Benvolio kept trying to tell him that there are a lot more girls and he should forget about her and find someone else "By giving liberty unto thine eyes.
Examine other beauties." Benvolio was telling Romeo dont just focus on one girl let your eyes wander freely and look at other girls. Benvolio tried to help him get over Rosaline but Romeo was still very sad and depressed. Now friends do the same thing they try to help each other with girl problems and support them through tough times. When you have a friend they can give better confidence like Mercutio giving Romeo confidence to go to the Capulet party when he didn't want to because he was all sad about Rosaline not liking him.

Even though friendships are important and people need them friendships can turn really bad and in some cases lead to death like throughout Romeo and Juliet. If Mercutio didn't give Romeo confidence to go to the party Romeo wouldn't have met Juliet and they both wouldn't have killed themselves at the end. Mercutio probably wouldn't have died either because Romeo would have fought Tybalt instead of saying he loves him in a family way because he just married Juliet (). Romeo's action was not a friend move because if he was a friend he would of helped Mercutio. Today friendships don't usually lead to death, they might lead to arguing and maybe fights but no one dies. Also with social media and camera's instead of people helping out they will just film the fight.

Friendships now don't lead to death like they did back in the 16th century. Friends fight all the time but they never try to put each other in danger and kill them. Friends will try to settle it a different way and go back to being friends. Friendships now are very important because friends always got each others back no matter what.

Friendships are always important, you need them in your life or you'll be very lonely. Friends have your back and will have your back forever. They will support you with relationship problems and any other problems you might have. Friends will help you if you get hurt and help you get through the pain. Friends are one of the most important things in someones life.
