To a stranger

In this poem "To a Stranger" by Walter Whitman I think it is about who he loves. It said on the internet that he was bisexual so it could be about a boy or girl. I personally think this poem is about a guy he loves because of the line "I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or wake at night alone". When Walter lived people didn't like homosexuals so he couldn't express his feelings about a guy and if he did people would call him certain words. There are a lot of different people this could be about but I think it's about a man he loves but can't be around because other people would make fun of him.
